Persatuan Akademik Kakitangan Anestesiologi Sabah (PERAKAS), or Sabah Academic Society of Anaesthesiology, was established in 2014. Currently, it comprises 35 dedicated members from three main hospitals in Kota Kinabalu: Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospital, and Sabah Women and Child Hospital. Our organization serves as a dynamic platform committed to advancing the field of anaesthesiology within Sabah and across Malaysia. With the primary objective of fostering professional growth and collaboration, we host a diverse range of activities aimed at enriching the knowledge and skills of our members while contributing to the broader anaesthesiology community. The organization has successfully organized its annual main activity, namely BAIPC (Borneo Anaesthesia & Intensive Care & Pain Conference), since 2014. Apart from that, other scientific meetings such as the annual Sabah ICU update, airway workshop, and regional anaesthesia workshop were successfully organized with a good number of participants from all over Malaysia. The Sabah Academic Society of Anaesthesiology is not only dedicated to professional development but also to serving the local community. In addition to regular Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) training sessions, our society actively engages in community outreach programs. These initiatives include providing basic CPR training to members of the local community, equipping them with life-saving skills that can make a difference in emergencies. By combining academic excellence with community service, we strive to make a meaningful impact in the field of anaesthesiology and beyond.
